Elemental Quarters

Elemental Quarters Cover
A while back I talked about one of the ways that the Norse would call unto the elements before working their magic. I finaly had the sense, as well as being able to think coheriently (sp), to bring the reference that I was pulling it from. After having cast the circle, which takes a few times with different mediums. the first candle is lit (in the East) and this is recited:

I call upon you, Powers of the Air, to witness this rite and to guard this circle.

This is done for the other three quarters in a clock wise direction using the appropriate power or name if propers are used. The main aspect of the rite is attended to (sorry about being so brief) and then any spellwork that is planned is performed. After the spellwork has been completed, the candles are extinguished staring in the east with this recited:

Depart in peace, O Powers of Air.
My thanks and blessings.

This is done for the other three quarters with a final invocation before breaking of the circle.

To all beings and powers of the visible and invisible, depart in peace. May there always be harmony between us. My thanks and blessings.
