I noticed alot of belly-aching reviewers posted as "A Reader".I think it's just sour grapes on their part.Why not post with at least a 'Magickal Name'?This book is geared for the 13-23 year old wiccan practioneers.This book had many solid tibbits of Information on spell-work,wiccan recipes, and pagan-potions.It was a quick and enjoyable reading,only 180 pages.This book helps the curious novice arouse an interest in the calling of Wicca.This is not Aleister O'Crowley's realm of divinity or his area of fluffy interest.One can read this in an afternoon's time.I would have to recommend reading this first,before you read 5,000 more sophicated spells.A wonderful primer for new spell-casters.

The secrets of Spellcraft revealed through easy-to-follow, yet highly powerful magical formulas. There are also sections on the magical association of herbs, the Eight Sabbats of the Wiccan tradition and a directory of occult shops, publications and services to the Wiccan community.

I have used many of her spells in this book with great success, with no ill effects. If you are reading correctly (NOT) you will notice that the dove's blood spell has a disclaimer that it is from another sorce and she recommends either your own blood or no blood at all, just use dragon's blood, I'm sure any "real" witch would know what that is.

This book is one of the best books that I have had the pleasure of reading since realizing my true destiny 6 months ago..I have read many books, but this one takes the cake. It was VERY hard to find because it is out of print, but through the WWW, I was able to track it down and I couldn't be happier. If you can find this book, it is worth what it takes to get it. Book: Geschichte Der Magie In German by Eliphas Levi

In German language. First published in 1913, this classic text is an invaluable source book on the history and practice of magic and occultism. The contents include: Magic of the Magi, Magic in Ancient Greece, the Kabalah, Primitive Symbolism, Mysticism, Oracles, Magical Monuments, Magic and Christianity, Pagan Magic, Kabalistic Paintings and Sacred Emblems, Sorcerers, Magic and Freemasonry, the Illuminati, and more.

We are all intruigued by the mysteries of magic. But this book makes the most preposterous claims about magic, ritual, history and god knows what else, that I have ever seen. Far from the claim (in a review below) of his "empiricism," Levi does not seem to have been in the least informed by the sciences of his day. The real mystery is why the great esotericsit A.E. Waite bothered to translate it from the French at all. Need an example? India is described as "the Mother of all heresies" [laughable, were it not so pathetic an example of judeochristian resentiment]. And he seriously believes that the the books of the Old Testament describe the literal Anthropology & history of the peoples of the Mideast, Ishmael=Islam and all the rest [fundamentalism so naive it would make a Trent Lott blush!]. The book's organization reflects the author's romance with Quaballah, but the chapters themselves are random collections of "ideas" on topics unrelated to the chapter titles [a stream-of-consciousness style the anticipated the great Joyce by half a century, albeit to no effect, aesthetic or otherwise]. The single high point of the book is Levi's description of spiritual love: "The true man elevates himself not by trying to possess the object of his desire but by raising himself to Her through devotion" [its a pity he didn't know anything about Sufism or the key difference between magic and devotion]. Try Israel Regardie instead, who is at least steeped in Renaissance memory training, neo-Platonism and other worthies. Remember that it is but a small (backwards) step that separates dog from god. Anatomy Of A Candle

First, we need to think about how a candle works... Many people don't realize that the wax is what really fuels the candle, not the wick. The flame heats the wax to a liquid, the liquid wax gets sucked up the wick, and then burns, creating more heat and Starting the cycle over again.

Wick:

Many different materials can act as a wick, though some better than others. Basically anything made of a fiber (Wood, cotton, etc.) can act as a wick. This is why you need to be careful with such Things as burning paper around candles. An errant piece of burning paper that touches a candle can act as a short-term Second wick. This has been known to cause all kinds of problems.

Wax:

Wax is a very flammable substance. When it's heated to it's melting temperature, it has a lot of properties in common with oil or grease. It burns easily, it's lighter than water, and can spontaneously combust at a high enough temperature.
